Happy New Year From Doulas of Capitol Hill!

Snowflake Festival A Resounding Success!

Happy New Year to all of our clients, friends and supporters! We are happy to start the year off celebrating the success of our first Annual Snowflake Festival, with donations benefiting the DC Diaper Bank. This event, held at the SE Capitol Hill Library, featured crafts, cookies, face painting by Erica Exline, and our good friend Olaf from Frozen!

1 in 5 families live below the federal poverty line in the DMV area. Diapers cost on average $70-$80 a month per baby, and this can be dramatically more if purchases have to be made from the local corner store opposed to a big box store. 0% of diapers are covered by the SNAP (formally known as the food stamp program) or WIC, leaving families struggling with basic needs.

Doulas of Capitol Hill is happy to report collecting nearly 1700 diapers in conjunction with other needed products such as wipes, lotion and formula*! This is enough to keep a family stocked in diapers for over 6 months.

We wish to thank our sponsors, Seventh Hill Pizza and Groovy Cards and Gifts for donating raffle prizes for this event!

If you are interested in supporting the DC Diaper Bank, consider hosting a drive or becoming a volunteer! Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in this event. Please check out photos from the event. We hope to see you again next year!
